“ Should've gotten her name, but this really cute barista/cashier with two side ponytails not only helped me pick between the two signature drinks I was interested in trying but also gave an AWESOME idea to travel a long distance with iced horchata latte without risking it getting watered down The whole atmosphere of the cafe matched her great energy, as well - especially the chill balcony seats on a sunny day like today! I'm normally not even a big fan of cheap cinnamon flavors, but Roots Coffee's horchata latte is like.. a really good latte with small batch roasted beans that's enriched with a couple pumps of horchata syrup, topped with real cinnamon powder. Not overwhelmingly sweet, but definitely a desserty drink! ”
“ This coffee shop was such a nice surprise with a chill vibe with friendly staff . They offer a solid selection of coffee and tea options, plus some tasty looking pastries and breakfast items . The atmosphere inside is pretty relaxed, making it a nice spot to grab a drink and maybe get some work done (outdoor 2nd floor deck seating, 2nd floor indoor seating and restrooms, and a small bar and sofa on the first floor). The service was efficient and the baristas were helpful . You should also grab a savory breakfast sandwich from the food truck outside (Grumpy Dough)...one of the best breakfasts I've had in months and an amazing owner. The shop appeared to have a ramp for easy access, which is a definite plus for anyone with mobility needs. ”

They crafted the perfect peppermint Horchata latte and caramel steamed milk for the little ones—just the right balance of sweet and cozy. While we settled into the charming upstairs area, the staff surprised us with a thoughtful touch: complimentary blueberry muffins for the girls! It was such a kind and unexpected gesture that truly set this place apart. Upstairs, there’s a cozy outdoor patio with plenty of seating, perfect for enjoying your coffee with a view. Inside, the space has lots of seating options, from tables to couches. They’ve also equipped the space with plenty of plugs and free Wi-Fi, making it ideal for working, studying, or just relaxing. The areas are clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully run, including spotless bathrooms—always a bonus. The location is great, and their hours (open until 6 PM!) are perfect for those of us who aren’t early risers but still crave a quality coffee experience later in the day. Roots Coffee is more than just a coffee shop; it’s a place that genuinely cares about its customers-definitely a place to visit while in SLC! ”
